“Dear Goffletop” was my first attempt of designing and writing a children’s book. Set in the valleys of Wales, the book tells the story of Sir Dafydd Toffee, the tiny postman who must embark on his travels to Goffletop, an island home to an even smaller population of folk who demand mail. The book hopes to teach children that even the smallest of favours can go an extremely long way.
The variation above went unused in the final edit for the book as I decided to go for a cleaner, more colourful approach that I felt just wouldn’t work if I remained with water colour. As much as I loved the nostalgic look of its predecessor, I think the newer style fit the story much stronger as it matched the absurdity of the narrative.
